Fundraising and treasurers

Hello list, Thanks a lot, the response to my last request to take roles has mostly filled our staff to the needed levels. Lot's of cool developments have happened since then, including a bunch of fundraising leading to small but meaningful pledges of programming cables and beacon hardware. FUTURE I've contacted a dozen commercial groups, some rather large. They are not invited to make cash donations, and I haven't offered logo placement. However, if they provide meaningful resources of any kind then treasurers will need to log, track, and act. REQUEST Treasurers still have not assembled and organized. Many of us are interested in these roles, so please contact the Treasury Secretary AJ and make yourself known in the appropriate project location. He is reading this list, thanks a lot AJ for the extra help! https://taiga.getmonero.org/project/michael-vegas-august-2018/task/26/ Once a sponsor pledges and we decide to accept, treasurers should be informed in case they want to act. It could be as simple as (1) we have a private spreadsheet, (2) put the new name in, (3) who is the village contact person, and (4) what has been pledged/delivered? POLICY We're not straying from DT's no sponsorship policy as no Monero staff has offered anything in exchange for sponsored resources. Each group is invited only after a team meeting decides it, and they are very clear that nothing (aside from free village badges or excess shirts/whatever) is offered in exchange. We can decide in the next meeting if we'll thank sponsors by name during keynotes, closings, or other speech. Any ideas or questions? Urgent proceedings and activities

Hello list, The last chance is coming soon to take a official role in our DefCon village. https://taiga.getmonero.org/project/michael-vegas-august-2018/us/5/ We need to fill the posts soon, so if pressure builds any more I'll give the roles to non village folks or take them myself. For example, we're close to losing the privilege of having couches in the village if no floor plan is submitted soon. The same goes for advance conference entrances, which can only be requested once we know who is staffing the village. IMPORTANT Regardless of Monero or BCOS association, if you know a person who is actively working a village role but rejecting communication via IRC, Slack, Taiga, email, and the bimonthly meetings, please tell them that they are risking losing benefits of their contributions. This is only recommend for those whose anonymity is a high priority. Site radio communications

Hello again, I'm expecting this idea to fail, but just in case anyone wants to participate in radio broadcast communications (in order to bridge the strip distance) please try to get a amateur license in the next few months. I have a couple portable radios to lend, but they require a legal license due to their high transmission power. Please tell me if you want to borrow one, because I must test the batteries. We will likely not have any budget to buy consumer radios, and depending on GSM is risky. I'm DH3WTJ by the way, and the ideal situtation is if one radio operator is in the room at all times. Anybody want to bet how badly this idea will fail? Decisions on new DefCon announcements

Hello list, A few large emails revealed a lot of information we were waiting to read about this weekend, and I've copied the information to the appropriate places: https://taiga.getmonero.org/project/michael-vegas-august-2018/task/9/ https://taiga.getmonero.org/project/michael-vegas-august-2018/task/26/ https://taiga.getmonero.org/project/michael-vegas-august-2018/task/28/ Of these tasks only one person has volunteered to take a role, so it may be that we're lacking helpers or not organized. For example, we need to create a room floor space plan indicating where tables, chairs, a projector, screen, and other objects should be placed by the hotel staff. It seems we may be lucky and might not need to provide any of these things (a projector and loudspeakers for example) by ourselves? EMAIL I've requested permission from our DefCon village contact to share their email address, so the appropriate managers (treasurer, A/V, floor, etcetera) can directly answer the questions they are asking. LOCATION While reading the Caesars Palace map, please remember that most villages did not receive a Caesars location. They are on the other side of the strip, far from the main proceedings. We received less space than we wanted, but did get a good location at Caesars.
